Open Files With Single Click If The FolderOption Is Grayedout

To change click option to open a file or a folder.
Goto -->Folder option in your my computer.
              Take General tab and
              select-single-click to open an item(point to select)]
        
        (If the Folder option is grayed out)
         ie.When you take the folder option the above option
          is dimmed(single select)  this will happen when the classic shell is ON.
          In that case try below steps.
>>Open Registry Editor (Regedit.exe in run) and go to-
     HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
     \Policies\Explorer

#Backup the registry  before modifying (there is a previous post on how to back up your
registry).# and
Follow these steps:-
In the rightpane set value of ClassicShell to 0.
Restart your system to take effect of changes made.The "Singleclick"  option
must be restored now.
NOTE:If you are using Windows XP- ProfessionalEdition this may not work
then GOTO>>GPEDIT.msc and take
>>User Configuration/
    Windows components/
    Windows Explorer
set turn on classical shell to Not Configured.
